Short-Time Compensation or Worksharing is a provision added to the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 to prevent companies from being forced to perform temporary or mass layoffs. The provision will allow Ohio employers to reduce the number of hours an employee works per week in order to maintain their employment, while allowing the employee to file for UC benefits to supplement the number of hours reduced in their work week.
