Workers are finding themselves more and more behind a desk in front of a computer for hours and hours a day. Neck and back injuries can occur from improper sitting, desk setup and computer height.
October is National Ergonomics Month and Sheakley would like to remind employers that the Ohio BWC’s Division of Safety and Hygiene (DSH) offer expert ergonomists that provide assessments on lifting, pushing, pulling and carrying tasks; repetitive hand-intensive work; sedentary work; awkward work postures, and other physical stressors. These experts can help employers reduce the risk of injury and lower workers’ compensation insurance costs.
DSH also offers many courses on ergonomics at several BWC locations across the state, and many are offered online. Employers can register for classes through the BWC Learning Center or register by phone at 1-800-OHIOBWC.
